Beverly Kim

Program:

Culinary Arts (A.A.S.)

“Kendall College gave me the foundational skills and mindset to get my career started.”

When Beverly Kim enrolled at Kendall College, she hoped to build her culinary skill set and someday open her own restaurant. Now, she’s a James Beard Award-winning chef and owner of acclaimed restaurants Parachute and Wherewithall.

The skills and determination she learned at Kendall have stayed with her ever since she completed her degree program. She cites that resilience as a factor in her success on Top Chef, which she used as a springboard to open her first restaurant.

The biggest challenge she’s overcome, she says, is balancing being a working mother with advancing her career. That’s why she founded The Abundance Setting, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the advancement of working women and moms in the hospitality industry. Like all great leaders, Beverly didn’t stop at becoming her best. She’s helping others become their best too.
