At NLU, we believe a strong community encourages a collaborative learning environment in which everyone has a better opportunity to succeed. Jason Sterwerf truly embraced that sense of community.
In fact, his program’s cohort model is what drew him to NLU in the first place. In a cohort model, groups of students take classes together to gain networking and collaborative learning opportunities and a strong sense of connection, even when their program is online. That support is especially valuable for on-the-go students who balance school and family. In Jason’s case, that meant raising seven kids while obtaining his degree.
The support didn’t end at the podium. Jason says that his NLU classmates and mentors have helped him succeed since graduation. Now, he serves the public as a Social Service Coordinator for the McHenry, IL police department: living proof that joining our community can help you lift up your own.
